Characteristics

Wine produced with grapes from Figari, a natural terrace above the Valpolicella Classica area, in the vineyards located on the side of Colle Masua that slopes down towards Marano di Valpolicella. It is our Superiore, elegant, fragrant, austere but likeable. More complex than Classico but equally fresh, lively and drinkable.

Varieties

Principally a blend of Corvina Veronese and Corvinone, remaining small percentage of other autochthonous varieties as permitted in the production regulations.


Gegraphic Location

Figari (Marano di Valpolicella) hilly area in Valpolicella Classica close to Colle Masua.

Characteristics of the vineyard

Altitude: between 230 and 275 m above sea level

Exposure: west

Type of soil: soils originating from marine sediment, calcareous, not very deep and of average fertility

Planting System: Guyot, from 4000 to 4500 vines per hectare.


Harvest

Manual harvest, from the beginning to middle October; the grapes are carefully selected and placed in small baskets

Yield: 60-65 hectolitres of wine per hectare.


Vinification

The berries are gently destemmed and crushed.

Fermentation temperature: not exceeding 28 °C.

Length of maceration: 12 to 14 days, with daily remontage and delestage.

Malolactic fermentation: autumn.

Ageing in steel tanks: 3 months.

Ageing in wood: 6 – 9 months in Slavonian oak casks.

Ageing in bottle: 4 – 6 months.


Wine characteristics

Colour/Aroma/Taste: ruby red, with scents of preserved fruit and notes of vanilla and spices.

Alcohol content: 13% Vol.


Food pairing

With all first courses and soups, with white meat second courses, roast fish and soft cheeses.

Serve at 16 - 18 °C, in medium bowled glasses.
